The No. 1 ranked UBC Thunderbirds were an unstoppable force against the UBCO Heat in the second quarterfinal matchup of the CUMRC tournament.
UBC was relentless, making their way down the field at will and controlling every scrum on the field. UBCO couldn’t find a way to counter the UBC set piece, and the game got out of their hands very quickly.
In the first half, Alastair Marshall had carried the ball for numerous big gains, touching down for three tries in the opening 30 minutes.
At halftime, the Thunderbirds built a 57-0 lead.
The UBC lineup continued to play a confident game in the second half, refusing to let UBCO advance the ball despite the Heat’s uptick in energy.
Talon McMullin, Jacob Bourne and Liam Kinghorn shared kicking duties, logging a combined total of 12 conversions.
The 104-0 win advances the Thunderbirds to the semifinal round where they will meet the ETS Piranhas on Friday at 4:30 p.m. (ET) while the Heat will fall to consolation bracket to play against the Memorial Sea-Hawks at 10:30 a.m. (ET).
