LANGLEY, British Columbia – Led by Glenn Roy, with 27 points, the No. 3 Ottawa Gee-Gees defeated the No. 8 Calgary Dinos 47-0 to claim seventh place at the Canadian University Men’s Rugby Championship Sunday morning at the Willoughby Community Park Stadium at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
Also scoring tries for the Gee-Gees were Evan Roy, Connor Williams, Alex LaFleur, and Mark Mikaya.
AS IT HAPPENED
Ottawa’s Evan Roy opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a converted try to put the Gee-Gees up 7-0. From there, it was the Glenn Roy show for Ottawa. Roy scored the next 21 points for the Gee-Gees with three straight tries and conversions, scoring in the 20th minute, the 24th minute, and the 27th minute. To put Ottawa up 28-0 at the half.
The Gee-Gees added to their score eight minutes into the second half with a converted try from Connor Williams in the 38th minute. Ottawa’s Alex LaFleur added an unconverted try in the 52nd minute, with Mark Mikaya finishing off the scoring with a converted try in the 60th minute to make the final 47-0 for the Gee-Gees.
