The second consolation final of day two of CUMRC action welcomed the no. 3 Victoria Vikes and the host team, the Ottawa Gee-Gees for a sunny afternoon battle. The Vikes fought their way to victory, earning a 35-31 win on Matt Anthony Field.

Glenn Roy put three points on the board for the Gee-Gees with a penalty kick in the third minute of play. The Vikes responded with a pair of tries, taking the first half lead.

A redzone penalty committed by the Vikes gave the Gee-Gees possession, Evan Roy carried the ball in for Ottawa’s first try of the afternoon.

The Vikes had the edge going into halftime with a score of 14-10

In the second half, the Vikes added two more tries to extend their lead before the Gee-Gees were able to find the endzone again. This time, it was Ali Awada who touched town for Ottawa.

The Gee-Gees will kick off the final day of the CUMRC tournament in the 7/8 game against Memorial at 10 a.m. (ET) while the Vikes advance to the consolation final to meet the UBCO Heat at 12:30 p.m. (ET).
