The Memorial Sea-Hawks and UBCO Heat were first to take Matt Anthony Field on day two of the CUMRC. The consolation semifinal ended in favour of the Sea-Hawks

At the six-minute mark, the Vikes ran in for the game’s opening try. Nathan Holmes sent the ball straight through for a convert, making it 7-0 for the Heat to start the morning.

The Heat’s goal line defence prevented the Sea-Hawks from getting on the scoreboard on more than one occasion, but they eventually broke through with a solid maul from the 10-yard line.

With a nearly identical play, Memorial added another try to flip the score in their favour. Minutes before the end of the half, the Sea-Hawks added another five points to make it 17-7.

UBCO logged six points as Holmes stepped up for back-t0-back penalty kicks. With 15 minutes left in regular time, the Heat trailed 17-13.

At the 57-minute mark, the Heat gained redzone possession. Sending the ball across the field to Jack McCallum, he snuck in the try zone for his second try of the morning. With the convert from Holmes, UBCO claimed the lead.

That’s all the Heat needed to take the game, advancing to the consolation final with a 20-17 win. UBCO will play in the consolation final on Sunday morning at 12:30 p.m. (ET) against the winner of Ottawa vs. Victoria. Memorial will fall to the 7/8 game where there will meet the loser of Ottawa vs. Victora at 10 a.m. (ET) on Sunday morning.
